Russian Pavel Vrublevsky who is also an owner in a company called RS-Promotion (a shady pharmacy company – that gets its payment processing done by ChronoPay), was quizzed by the Federal Security Service on a a complaint filed by Assist.ru (a competitor to ChronoPay) that Pavel hired an attacked to do a DDoS on Assist.ru
It is interesting to note, both companies ChronoPay and Assist.ru were vying for business from the Russian national airlines, Aeroflot. Suffice to say, if Aeroflot has checked which website was working or not, that would have made a significant impact on their decision. After all, if a payment processor cannot stop a DDoS attack or Block DoS attacks, processing payments would pose a huge problem.
Vrublevsky was arrested after he returned from an overseas trip. He had earlier fled the country, when one of the suspects in custody has cited Vrublevsky’s name and the DDoS-for-Hire plot.
Vrublevsky’s couter hearing can be within a month’s time – meanwhile he is learning to get acquainted with the graffiti on his prison walls.
