Botnets the herds of zombie (compromised) computers that together cause distributed denial of service attacks, need to be curtailed, but service providers have always thought of this as not their problem. Well, that notion could be changing soon. Working together service providers could put a noose around the botnets and strangling their bandwidth. Read more on this article here.
It seems IRC is no longer the only channel that Bot Operators are using as far as controlling their bot herds. Previously it was reported that Twitter was used (a first in itself), now, it seemed Google Groups are being used. Read more about this interesting development here.
