Cisco released a flood of patches yesterday, some of them very important as they can be exploited (if not patched) to do distributed denial of service attacks (ddos attacks). More on this release can be read here.

Conficker Threat Looms.

The threat from the Conficker worm still looms. Many security pundits have claimed that if the 5 million or so infected computers were to suddenly DDoS, it would easily be one of the largest DDoS attacks ever recorded. Microsoft’s bounty of US$ 250,000 for information leading to the arrest of the Conficker worm author still remains unclaimed.
From the Network Status page of web host H9, it seems one or their nodes is under a large DDOS attack.

Australian Computer Emergency Response Team (AusCERT), has confirmed that the Australian Prime Minister’s Office has been suffered a distributed denial of service attack recently.

The Tech Herald is reporting that a new IIS vulnerability has been found and confirmed by Microsoft. The vulnerability which exists in IIS allows denial of service attacks to happen.
